As part of its complete transit solution, Hudson normally transfers a customer’s material from Europe to the American Midwest through the great lakes. As winter progresses and the lakes freeze over, Hudson adapts the supply chain to move the material up from New Orleans, where it is lightered onto barges the trans-shipped up the Mississippi River.

The recent “polar vortex” made this plan of action impossible. The sustained, bitter cold froze the Illinois River at key junctions, making passage by barge completely unworkable. Another solution would have to be found.

Hudson is pleased to have sponsored the first UFC event of 2014, "UFC Fight Night: Saffiedine vs. Lim" at the Marina Bay Sands in Marina Bay, Singapore. The first ever UFC event in Singapore, this landmark contest was also the first to be available for world-wide viewing through the use of UFC’s new “Fight Pass” system. This event will be the first of many sponsored by Hudson throughout Asia, and Hudson anticipates many exciting matches in the new year.

Hudson is pleased to report that the Sunsuper Ride to Conquer Cancer has raised over $5.2 million for the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research. During the event over 1,336 riders completed a 217km two-day cycling tour through Western Australia to aid this worthy endeavor.

In today’s challenging economic climate, firms are increasingly looking to Hudson for improved supply chain responsiveness and efficiency. Hudson has responded by rapidly escalating its operations to exceed customer requirements and surpass customer expectations. Thus it is with great pride that Hudson announces it completed its 300th voyage in early September of this year, a milestone that was not reached until November last year. And while Hudson operated an impressive 390 voyages in 2012, a substantial growth over 2011 numbers, this year Hudson looks to eclipse that benchmark in what is shaping up to be an industrious 2013.
